Overview
Trezor hardware devices provide a secure, offline environment for private keys. The Trezor hardware login is the process of connecting your physical device to your computer and authenticating (via PIN and optional passphrase) to unlock the device for transaction signing and wallet management.
Supported devices
- Trezor Model One
- Trezor Model T
Before you begin
Make sure you have your physical Trezor, the original USB cable, and that you downloaded official software from Trezor.io/Start. Never share your recovery seed or PIN with anyone.
Step-by-step: Trezor Hardware Login
- Install prerequisites: Download and install Trezor Suite or ensure your browser-based suite and Trezor Bridge (if required) are up to date.
- Connect device: Plug your Trezor into the computer using the original USB cable. The device screen should light up.
- Open Trezor Suite: Launch the official app or go to the verified web suite via Trezor.io/Start.
- Enter PIN: Use the randomized on-screen keypad (or the buttons on the device) to enter your PIN. The PIN is entered on your computer but displayed and confirmed on the Trezor screen to prevent keyloggers from learning it.
- Optional Passphrase: If you use a passphrase (a BIP39 passphrase), enter it when prompted — this creates a hidden wallet. Never type seeds into a browser; treat passphrases like a password.
- Authenticated: After successful PIN/passphrase entry, your Suite dashboard unlocks and you can view addresses, sign transactions, and manage accounts.
Important security note: Your recovery seed is the only full backup of your wallet. Never enter it into a computer, phone, or online form. Trezor staff will never ask for your recovery seed or private keys.
Troubleshooting
- Device not detected: Reconnect the cable, try another USB port, or reinstall Trezor Bridge/Trezor Suite.
- PIN forgotten: If you lost your PIN but have your recovery seed, you can restore on a new device. If you lose both, funds cannot be recovered.
- Firmware issues: Only install firmware updates from the official Trezor Suite and follow on-screen prompts.
Best practices
- Always verify you are on trezor.io before downloading software.
- Write your recovery seed on paper (or use a steel backup) and store it offline in a secure place.
- Use a strong PIN, enable passphrase if you understand its implications, and keep firmware up to date.
